Works as advertised, makes fine ice cream. Instructions are brief and clear. Well-made for the price. About the size of a small wastebasket, fits easily into one side of a double sink. I think the size is an excellent compromise between the countertop units and the big churns.

The can is thin deep-drawn aluminum with no seams at the bottom to trap salt (like a soda can, but not nearly that thin). People have complained of it getting pinholes from corrosion during storage, but I think this must be from forgetting to rinse all salt from the bucket, or not drying can or bucket thoroughly. I would recommend storing the can upside down in the bucket so that any possible moisture/corrosion will be at the rim where it will do little harm, but the can will still be protected from dents.

The motor is silent but the gear train is noisy, because it’s all spur gears. All gears but the final one are die-cast zinc, and the final looks like filled nylon or acetal. Gears and shafts are greased with white grease. I believe they should hold up nicely in home use. Motor is fan-cooled and has a self-resetting overheat protector.

All in all a good, lightweight but honest product that should last well if you get all the salt and moisture off after use.

    Works perfectly for me…
I’ve had this machine for at least a couple years, and I’ve never had any problems with it. I’ve made ice cream many times and each time it has frozen perfectly.

One of the best for the buck, it just makes great ice cream. Period. Also comes with great recipes, makes plenty. Isn’t nearly as loud as I thought it would be and rust hasn’t been a problem since it’s cleaned well after each use.

    Piece of junk, indeed
As another user discovered, this is not worth the box it came in . . . we used it twice and had to stop and start it several times to get it to keep turning.

    Sad
This maker doesn’t actually freeze, no matter how much ice you put in or how long. It works okay the first couple of times, but then, not at all.

    junk……..
This machine, while inexpensive, worked for me only one time. The second time I tried to use it, the bucket would not turn, no matter how many times I took it apart and put it…

This ice cream maker is junk
We wanted to make ice cream with our grandkids, it took over an hour to freeze the cream and the motor started to strip out. On the second batch the motor locked up.

    Great, cheap ice cream maker
I was surprised at how good the ice cream we got for this sub $20 ice cream maker. I was shopping around to get a more advanced one, but never got around to buying it, so I picked…

an ice cream maker that ‘creams’ out
I purchased this unit hoping, in the short term, to use it until my higher quality maker arrived from Europe, thus I expected to use it for one season at most.
